Pharo was forked from Squeak Smalltalk, which started out as a Smalltalk-80 implementation for the Mac Plus.
@lorihc same experience. We mostly hacked around things to make it work, but didn’t take the time to embrace it across the app. Things got harder as more features were added at the framework level
