Social media is a degrading mechanism of social control. You should abandon it, like I have.

I'm going to take a break from #SocialMedia for a few months. It's interfering with my efforts to better myself, and it's filling my mind with negativity.

Something I've been pondering: several of the wealthiest people in the world are totally addicted to social media. That implies that they aren't "the elite" of society, but rather pathetic losers, despite their wealth.

Imagine how much worse of a situation we'd be in if those same billionaires worked very hard and weren't full of self-pity.

Relax everyone! This is fine!

Any minute now, we will be saved by a powerful coalition! This coalition will be formed of:

* People who voted for Trump because of the price of eggs
* White women who voted for Trump
* Scientists who voted for Trump

I've been told that these people will come around!

While we are being completely unrealistic let's add the Easter bunny to the coalition.

I don't think folks are ready to process how many Trump voters are generally happy with most of what's happened.

They only don't like the part that happened to them specifically. They enjoy everyone else's pain.

It's this, for every sub-group that voted for Trump, claiming that it was a discount poultry play.🥚

It was never about the eggs.

Some of y'all are really good at lying to yourselves.

I don't have the luxury of that ability.

And I read too much.

And I listen to people when they say their plans.

👴🏻Once I'm president, I will punish groups A, B, C, D and E! I promise you this! They will suffer! Group A: Yeah! (Although I don't think he'll really punish group A) Group B: Hells yeah! Make them pay! (But he won't harm group B? We're his base) Group C: Punish them! Show no mercy! (Except for C)

Most of the US landmass is covered by co-op utilities that member-owners can get involved in.

As the feds double down on the ideological commitment to expensive, inefficient, toxic energy, rural residents can use their power to supercharge the #Energy transition.

This free series is with an org I work for, and helps #Rural folks gain the knowledge they need to engage with co-op utilities.

Honestly, I don't like #Mastodon. I don't like or understand the moderation rules. I don't like that it's addictive. I don't like being thrown into a giant space with people who don't like me, or who I don't like, or who are upset with me for posting what I want to post about because it's not what they want to see.

There's a lot wrong with this entire form of social media. It's a waste of time. There could be much better efficiencies if we could organize where our thoughts go. Like blogs.

"You can’t believe how kind the British are. Every morning, a van pulls up outside your house in Coventry. A friendly man brings you a freshly baked flatbread to eat. It’s just for you, not anyone else in your family. Every afternoon he comes back to make sure you’ve eaten it.”

When details about a scientific study in the 1960s became public, there was shock, outrage and anxiety. But exactly what happened?

Social relationships are also a lever. If you feel like you'll be ostracized from your in-person social circles, directly or indirectly, for refusing to be a collaborator, start forming new ones now.

Some advice for (white, cis, etc.) folks not directly targeted by fascism at present: identify the levers that will be used to make you collaborate, and dismantle them.

This one is borderline out-of-scope, since needing meds to survive puts you in the class of "targets of fascism" already.

However, if you feel like access to meds would be leverage over you, figure out what you can stockpile by underdosing, faking losing a bottle now and then to get extra as "replacement", getting doc to increase dose, obtaining from illicit sources, etc. This includes doing the research on safe shelf life, etc.

It's pretty great how 80s documentation never assumed the user had ever even heard of a computer before
