For more details on rakali vs cane toads:

https://theconversation.com/eat-your-heart-out-native-water-rats-have-worked-out-how-to-safely-eat-cane-toads-123986

“… water rats* in Western Australia adapted to hunt the highly poisonous toads less than two years after the toads moved into the rats’ territory.”

“We’re not sure whether water rats have very rapidly learned how to safely attack and eat cane toads, or if they are adapting a similar long-term hunting strategy that they may use to eat toxic native frogs.”

“Water rats are very well placed to pass on hunting strategies, as they care for their offspring for at least four weeks after they finish producing milk. This could help spread the knowledge of toad hunting across streams and creeks over time.”

*“Water rats” is synonymous with “rakali”.

Eat your heart out: native water rats have worked out how to safely eat cane toads

When neatly dissected cane toad corpses began turning up next to a creek in the Kimberley, scientists went on the hunt for the clever killer.

Maybe more people understand if we explain it just as bridges are not built for the ones who used to swim across the river.

Absolutely jaw-dropping talk by Micah Lee on the blinding national-security incompetence at the highest levels of the Trump regime.

If this had been any Democratic govt, Fox "News" and the entire right-wing media gang would make it the top story for weeks, if not months.

"We are currently clean on OPSEC": The Signalgate Saga

I just gave my first solo main stage DEFCON talk, about Signalgate, and I think it was a resounding success! The room was packed – apparently people were waiting outside to get in. I got tons of positive feedback, and no negative feedback (though, someone told me a boomer sitting next

@kenwhite.bsky.social George W. Bush II looks familiar. Is it Liam Neeson?

This is today's edition of #NonSequitur

And the version I originally wanted to do...

“INTRUDER INTRUDER WE HAVE BREACH ON THE ROOF OF THE EAST WING” “This is Team Lead say again do you have visual confirmation” “AFFIRMATIVE WE HAVE INTRUDER IT LOOKS LIKE … DOES GRITTY WEAR A SUIT? I THINK IT MAY BE GRITTY” “Stand down that is Mushroom, Mushroom is on the roof, all clear.”

Mastodon made me do it: Inspired by @jerzone and @LillyHerself mentioning him the other day, this afternoon I rode out looking for a couple of Andrew Goldworthy's pieces from his 20+ year old Sheepfolds project. The published grid references were a nonsense, but the old map made sense and managed to find them.
One was, I imagine, pretty much as built, but nature had rather taken over the other. #cumbria #sculpture #cycling
