> some federated way to follow a tag

This is the gist of what I meant. Whatever server you're on could register interest in those tags to servers they federate from on your behalf, so they receive them. But I don't know if AP supports that and what level of support for it there'd be in the various server software.

As you settle into Mastodon, be sure to learn the lingo:
- "toot": a tweet
- "tusking": starting a pointless fight with another user
- "woolly": going viral, as in "wow, that toot really went woolly"
- "extinction event": when a whole instance goes down

@joe Yeah, I'm not sure what to do about it yet. I spun up a server of my own, but I haven't done anything with it yet because I'm still unsure about whether people will still be here in a few weeks or of my Fediverse feed will just be the same 2-3 people again. πŸ˜•

Did you use the Mastodon account-migration tools at all?

@nickytonline @macdonst Yeah, Mastodon uses Paperclip under the hood, like how we used CarrierWave in Forem, and IIRC both gems store the original uploaded file, even when they do post-processing.
@toddsundsted Do you know if there's a way to propagate tags? If not, I wonder if a tag relay would work for that.
I spun up a server @ https://zomglol.wtf that I might transfer over to. I'm still figuring out what I'd like to do.

The performance of .social got much better (I saw 200ms per request last night) but this morning it's back to being almost 10 seconds to load my home timeline. πŸ˜•
@nateberkopec Now you're talking! Gonna open a PR to add a case-insensitive integer type. I don't care if it's a capital 3 or a lowercase 3! πŸ˜„
@wood Yep. They're incentivized to do both. πŸ˜•
@getajobmike There's https://github.com/toddsundsted/ktistec, a single-user Fediverse app created by @toddsundsted and it's where they run their own account. I tried it out for a while and it's pretty good.
