Steam just added screen reader support in the latest Big Picture Mode beta. On the Deck. On SteamOS. On Linux.
Not hacked in. Not community-patched. Built-in. From Valve.
There's an accessibility tab. There's a screen reader. There's high-contrast mode, UI scaling, color filters, reduced motion, and more.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but: I need a Steam Deck now.
Accessibility isn’t just coming to gaming — it’s here, and it’s official.
Let’s make some noise so they keep going.

Valve’s latest Steam beta adds new accessibility features to Big Picture mode and SteamOS.

I wonder if you can use Anki / SRS to memorize a guitar tab faster
Sunsonic 986-II. A Thai Famicom clone with keyboard and mini CRT built-in.

Also, another demo I played on the deck was White Knuckle, downloaded after Jerma streamed 8 hours of it. I wasn't expecting it to work with gamepad controls but the default scheme got me using ALL of the deck control features for the first time.

Back buttons? Check. Gyro? Check. Trackpad? Also check.

And somehow it still (kinda) works, props to however set up the control scheme.

Also from some streams I watched reaction to the game trailer has usually been: "Too much stuff happening on the screen".

But it didn't feel like this during the first runs of the demo, maybe because my "army" is still small? Also, the rhythm games I'm used to play tend to be like "yeah we are overwhelming you visually but you only need to focus on the rhythm". Looking at you Rhythm Doctor and Rhythm Heaven.

Downloaded the Ratatan demo and yeah it's the perfect steam deck game. The only thing I didn't like is that it felt like wasn't able to react to the enemies, like every time an enemy showed the "ready to attack" animation I was in the middle of another command so it felt a lot like "Attack and pray for the best".

I don't remember if patapon was also like this but a wider attack animation window would help a lot.

Regardless I'm buying the game day one since it feels like a rhythm game drought these days lol.

Big update: The Internet Archive has launched a new version of GifCities, the search engine for vintage GeoCities GIFs. It's now easier to explore the glitter, chaos, and charm of early web animation.

Search better. Share better. Blink more.

Ended up decompiling and patching the game myself, just added a try catch {} around the broken script since I'm too lazy to actually debug it
Just got an index out of range crash jumpscare in deltarune, please don't include programming concepts in my happy place
