#Tourists, both foreign and domestic, who come to #Kyoto generally rely on info they find in guide books/sites. I am here to tell you that the top 20 spots on those lists can and should be skipped. Not because they aren’t as culturally interesting (in theory) as the guidebooks make them out to be, but because they simply can no longer be enjoyed the way they could even 20 years ago. Go now, and you will find yourself shuffling through these places, shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other tourists. You won’t be able to really see what you came to see, and it will not be a pleasant experience. (1/7)
