I went out west, and came back. Sometimes a CTO, Developer, SysAdmin, Founder, Teacher, Coach. Tech itself is the least interesting thing to me. Dig stories, wood, metal, art, history, science, writing, reading & humanity. Profile cred my artist daughter. 4 cats!! Yes, I do political posting, can't be silent to hate.

Apparently it’s 20 years since Jack Dorsey sent the first tweet. On that same day, 21 March 2006, I was blathering on about “microcontent design” on ReadWriteWeb. This was the feeds world that web geeks like me wanted to become a reality: i.e. web standards-based feeds, using RSS/Atom, structured blogging, microformats, etc. Little did we know that Twitter would introduce the concept of proprietary feeds to the internet…and that would win out over web standards. https://web.archive.org/web/20060508071004/http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/microcontent_de.php

Washy and me

Here is my lazy Sunday question for you.

I remain surprised at the number of instructors (and other professionals) I meet that never held a job outside their field. Maybe I shouldn't be.

Did you have a job that wasn't in your field? Summer, temp, whatever. Just working exposure to a different world than your professional one?

MIT researchers have developed PhysiOpt, a system combining generative AI with physics simulations to create 3D printable personal items. The system runs finite element analysis to stress test AI-generated designs, making subtle tweaks so objects like cups, keyholders and bookends can withstand real-world use. Users can prompt with text or images and receive a blueprint ready for 3D printing in about 30 seconds. https://news.mit.edu/2026/mixing-ai-with-physics-to-create-personal-items-0225 #3Dprint #3Dprinting #AI #MIT
Mixing generative AI with physics to create personal items that work in the real world

A system known as PhysiOpt complements generative AI models with physics simulations to create 3D models of personal items. Users can prompt the system using text or images, and get a blueprint that works in the real world when fabricated.

Phases of my life

Things that are too quiet and I'm not sure where they are, and probably getting into trouble.

@carrideen now that's the background that is worth a follow :)

I will definitely say I experience this with my students. It is a very odd experience to stare at a room of it..

@Chigaze I always imagined this is what most people did, at minimum at least the HS/Uni work part.
