"The U.S. military has been identified as the largest single institutional emitter of greenhouse gases worldwide, according to a new study.

The study [links] reductions in military spending to significant decreases in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

The U.S. military's carbon output as of 2022 exceeded that of nearly 140 national governments, according to The Conversation."

Compared to all other social media platforms, Mastodon has very few 1 mintues videos (like you see those on Insta, TikTok, X etc) in my feed or in the trending tab. It has more text based content, followed by images. Very interesting! I guess humans have always liked to read and write. There is no automated alog here just humans talking and boosting what is important to them. This is how social media should be instead of constant push of clickbait videos.

This is from Israel's oldest paper. This is Israeli media reporting these war crimes and genocide in broad daylight.

You won't see this in American corporate media. They've continued to ignore this, enable this, even justify this and cheer it on.

Do not look away. This is genocide. This cannot stand.

My takeaway: Satellite launches are undoing the recovery of the ozone layer that should be happening now that CFCs are banned. And this study doesn't even take into account metal deposition from reentries, which might be even worse!

When I teach climate change in my astro classes, I always give the recovery of the ozone layer as an example of how countries can work together to fix a giant problem (Montreal Protocol). I guess satellite companies are now destroying that too.

"The writer didn't care. The supplement's editors didn't care. The biz people on both sides of the sale of the supplement didn't care. The production people didn't care. And, the fact that it took two days for anyone to discover this epic fuckup in print means that, ultimately, the reader didn't care either."

Ok, time for a thread on what I've been getting lots of interviews about. I've dropped some hints and shared some info, but here's the story!

Remember this document I posted a while ago? https://www.starlink.com/public-files/Starlink_Approach_to_Satellite_Demisability.pdf

It casually mentions that a piece of a Starlink satellite was found in Saskatchewan in August 2024.

Trump Calls On Congress To Pass The “Take It Down” Act—So He Can Censor His Critics

We've opposed the Take It Down Act because it could be easily manipulated to take down lawful content that powerful people simply don't like. Last night, President Trump demonstrated he has a similar view on the bill. He wants to sign the bill into law, then use it to remove content about — him....
