@gruber @benthompson How can one reconcile Apple's relatively paltry capex spending vs. peer companies with Tim Cook's failure to increase capex to facilitate a more aggressive effort to onshore world-class microprocessor fabrication? History won't be kind to Cook. At this point, Cook simply can't feign ignorance:

@BasicAppleGuy I've have the same exact issue. Has persisted through macOS 26.0–26.1 and continues to persist on 26.2 beta 1 with 100% reproducibility.

As you said, turning off Desktop & Document sync in iCloud resolves the issue; however, I've spent years building workflows that depend on this core iCloud feature.

I've filed 3 bug reports detailing this issue, all of which have been closed without comment.

@chockenberry @gruber @stroughtonsmith Perhaps. Although I’d suggest that a dedicated version of Xcode for iPadOS and tiered security options in iPadOS Settings.app is significantly less of a platform security risk than the sideloading enabled by DMA in the EU.

@chockenberry @gruber @stroughtonsmith Apple has had a *decade* since the first iPad Pro was introduced to work through these issues. Ten years later, it’s embarrassing that Apple still hasn’t released a version of Xcode for iPad focused on iOS development.

iPad “Pro” marketing has been misleading in this regard for years and has de facto eliminated the amazingly capable iPad hardware as a viable tool for a substantial base of Apple’s professional users.

Tip for all Apple reporters - Apple's Image Playground.app automatically redacts "No Kings Day" from AI-generated images, despite repeated redirections and clarifications. Per my tests, none of the other AI-driven image generation platforms censor the name of this nationwide protest. I encourage others to try and see for themselves. @gruber @atpfm @jsnell @marcoarment @siracusa @markgurman

I have always had an account on this Mac Studio, signed into my Apple ID. I use it nearly every day. No new accounts have been added to this Mac since it was first set up years ago. Apple is really making it difficult to keep Macs as part of AppleCare One.
