I make video games. I draw a webcomic. I've made films. I'm a freelance academic copyeditor and proofreader. I work at the University of Utah library. I have an MA in Japanese literature from the University of Oregon (I focused on animation and Gundam) and am interested in Japanese film, postwar literature, early modern culture, and a bunch of other stuff. I love cats. I like birds. 日本語理解できる。he/him

@farawaythyer Hell yeah! Gonna play this tonight
I did it, after first messing with bitsy like four (five?) years ago I finally released a bitsy game @ldx https://farawaytimes.itch.io/engorged
Engorged by Far Away Times

@farawaythyer First time I'd seen it. It was really good!

The movies were mostly very good, and that was nice. Movies were:

Godzilla Minus One
Ryuzo and the Seven Henchmen
But I'm a Cheerleader
Casino
Duck Soup (rewatch)

Actually realizing rn that those were roughly in ascending order of quality.

Was sad to abandon my #procjam game but realized there might be a game I actually care about making well in this idea (a continual ascent up a randomly generated treacherous tower) and I wasn't close enough to the right specifics of design by jam's end. Also I got to watch 5 movies over the weekend instead of spending those hours crunching on a game.
I've made over 100 games and hope to make 100 more, but I'm pretty sure I'll never top "Frank Sinatra in 'River, Stay Away from My Door.'" https://whatnot.bombdotcom.net/river-stay-away-from-my-door/
@farawaythyer This game sounds like the most lovingly crafted unnecessary, redundant hackery. Just a shambling echo of other games that you can literally go play right now.
Made a new puzzle platformer for the Utah Indie Game Jam over the weekend. Spent yesterday evening polishing it up a bit and adding four new levels. Check out "Parallel Problems," where you shift between two parallel realities that are identical, except offset by 52 inches. https://jdmgames.itch.io/parallel-problems

@farawaythyer Aw, thanks! Jam host said "look at this lost piece of dos shareware" and I couldn't think of a higher compliment.
