The last year for the NC Dems and the Mets have parallels: Out of touch Boomer with a B first name loses the group and a ton of misfires end up forcing a youth movement after old hats fall flat.
Mets: Mid 2010s bright spot with the 2015 World Series run.
NC Dems: Mid 2010s bright spot with Roy Cooper's 2016 win.
Mets: Come SO CLOSE to getting the NL East in 2022 only to blow it in the end. The bones were there for a good run and a little work could push them further.
NC Dems: Cal Cunningham and their not pushing him to victory. Some work could've gotten them a legislature chamber if they tried.
Mets: Have a great 2006 (Adam Wainwright aside), only for 2007/2008 to sour the mood.
NC Dems: Have a great 2008 only for 2009/2010 to sour the mood.
There's even a Jerry M [Meek/Manuel] between the two!
Also, leaving Shea and losing the legislature are watershed moments.
Mets: Become the only piece of worth in the Wilpon portfolio after Bernie Madoff scams them of their money.
NC Dems: Are left near broke after Randy Voller's reign of error.
