Really interesting podcast with Charanga's Max Wheeler https://www.instagram.com/maxwheeler/ and the various GCSE and A level exam boards talking about the government's music curriculum review: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1335544/episodes/19097413-episode-92-the-curriculum-review-exam-board-special-with-aqa-edexcel-pearson-wjec-eduqas

As Max says it's a rare opportunity to influence how music is taught at Secondary for the next decade or so

Finally I get to show the t-shirt design I made for the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. This was for a conference in Toronto, and they wanted a heavy metal tour shirt with the dates being future conferences. I am very glad I got this strange job.

Included are shots of real people from the conference to prove this is not just some strange bit I came up with.

The world is now so full of ridiculous things that at least I struggle to deal with it all. But this is not an 'us' problem. The (political) world really is idiotic. I needed to vent a bit, so I made a list of things that are impossible to believe, yet are very much what is happening. Perhaps seeing it in writing will help you deal better with the situation. https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/the-impossible-things-we-have-to-believe/
The Impossible Things We Have to Believe - Bert Hubert's writings

“Alice laughed. ‘There’s no use trying,’ she said. ‘One can’t believe impossible things.’ I daresay you haven’t had much practice,’ said the Queen. ‘When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. – Through the looking-glass, Lewis Carrol To stay sane, we have to accept that our climate is going completely haywire, but that it is ok to mostly ignore that since saving ourselves is apparently not cost-effective.

How to smoke

I used to love to smoke. If it weren’t for the whole lung cancer, emphysema, death thing, would you recommend smoking?

@neil fun story: when I was 15 I registered askjeves.co.uk, copied the site and made it respond with “Piss off, I’m busy” to any question. They threatened to sue my parents, I was obviously terrified so immediately transferred the domain. Their lawyers later confessed it was the funniest thing they’d seen. I was not popular with my parents for a while.

I work at #Grafana and persuaded my marketing team to sponsor #emfcamp ... I was speaking to #Antithesis and also persuaded them to sponsor EMF Camp.

Result... EMF Camp have a load of money, and I have more tickets than I need = a good problem.

Antithesis have given me 2 tickets and 1 car park pass to EMF Camp to give away, for free, with zero expectation of anything... also I have maybe 1 spare Grafana sponsor ticket... but how to do this?

Well here's Antithesis https://antithesis.com/ just for FYI, it's like a simulation testing fuzzer... runs your containers and fuzzes them amongst other things. Grafana you already know. That's the entire marketing pitch for both.

Anyone who both boosts and likes this post by 12:00 UTC on Thursday 7th May... those people will be entered into a random draw and I will give those people tickets. If someone does not reply within an hour of me notifying them, I'll move on to the next person, etc until all the tickets I hold are gone.

Yay to EMF Camp https://www.emfcamp.org/ which is July 16th– 19th 2026 in Eastnor, UK.

Filter out #grafithesiscamp to prevent ever seeing this message again if you are not interested.
