Turns out the Cassandra Peterson aka ELVIRA is on Mastodon as @TheRealElvira .
Folks, I think this thing might have legs, and uh, well, I'll leave the innuendo to the experts.
The Legacy of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is finally complete! 🍻
What I found:
It's pretty easy to dig through your follows via the API or just the web UI.
From there, you've got a set of servers you can check the /about pages for to find rules, and (hopefully) a list of admins.
Seems like for a big instance, the admins should be listed so a prospective joiner has some hope of finding out if they're a good fit.
Finally, https://fba.ryona.agency/?domain=mastodon.social will show instances not federating with another, and some server /about pages will share their server blocklist.
Today, I'm choosing to highlight some of my favorite LGBTQIA+ creators.
One of my all-time favorite podcasts is Midnight Mass, hosted by the incomparable drag queen Peaches Christ, with Michael Varati. They cover cult films & interview their creators, and they've introduced me to some of my favorite horror movies! The latest ep is all about great horror film scores & they interview Kirk Hammett of Metallica, it's soooo good!
OK, so I have seen a few warnings now that my server might not be the best to be on, as the de facto standard that lots of folks flock to as ... :waves hands:
So --- where do I find the scuttlebutt (or, heaven forfend, ACTUAL DATA) about which servers have good moderation and good fediverse connectivity?
I'm happy to move. Once.
