FFDB - it's like IMDB but for Found Footage movies. Search, rate, find out where a movie is streaming in your country. Free and privacy respecting. Also, big Twin Peaks fan, always have a book on the go, politically left-wing, #FOSS #Privacy #Movies #FoundFootage #Horror #HorrorMovies

If there's any feeling like finding a whole fresh duck in the reduced section of Tesco going for £2 I'm not sure what it could be.

The enemy of your enemy is NOT your friend. #Apple  is the largest natural monopoly in the tech industry. They have far too much power with their App Store lock-in.

Apple caves to the demands of repressive regimes in the US, Israel, and China. Apple actively deplatforms sex workers. Apple exploits poor workers in China and the global south.

We can praise some of Apple's privacy decisions (e.g. standing up to governments pushing for crypto backdoors) while also recognizing that no corporation will EVER have your best interests in mind.

We must bring all tech companies to heel with regulation. We also need to build alternative digital ecosystems that don't rely on monopolistic private companies.

Elon Musk says Apple stopped advertising and threatened to boot Twitter from app store

Billionaire says Apple mostly stopped advertising on his social network. "Do they hate free speech in America?"

@neilhimself - what are your thoughts on a book db? TMDB (themoviedb.org) catalogue movies and thetvdb.com does the same for TV. There's discogs.com for music but unless I've missed one, there's no comprehensive, open API'd db for books. GR is owned by Amazon, Google Books is (obviously) controlled by G and therefore there are concerns. There's also openlibrary.org but I understand it's under attack by publishers. Do books need an accessible, independent online db, free from profit and adverts?

"If you have an influx of new users and then you punish them for being themselves or trying to figure out ways to be themselves on the platform, then you will disincentivize users from recommending transformation or changes in the platform, even in open source platforms. They simply will not want to engage."

#7FilmsToKnowMe #horror movies only

Lake Mungo (serious creep factor, Aussie)

Paranormal Activity (didn’t sleep right for a month)

Prometheus (everyone is dumb because it’s horror god dammit)

Psycho (1998) (Hitch would've made it in color if he could've)

1408 (it’s not dusty in here, it’s just really sad)

Don’t Breathe (he can’t see but he’ll fuck you up anyway)

The Reef (love a good one-character movie, and creature features, this is both)

#HorrorMovies fans! Or y'know, not.

What was your first exposure to a #FoundFootage movie/show? For me it was Ghostwatch (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/46633-ghostwatch) - back in '92 the BBC aired this show on Halloween billed as a live ghost hunt . Presented with a total straightface on a serious TV channel with very heavy hitters as presenters it was shocking. Everyone was convinced it was real. It caused a media storm, people were phoning the police during the show. Tabloids were outraged. Genius.

Ghostwatch

For Halloween 1992, the BBC decides to broadcast an investigation into the supernatural, hosted by TV chat-show legend Michael Parkinson. Parky (assisted by Mike Smith, Sarah Greene & Craig Charles) and a camera crew attempt to discover the truth behind the most haunted house in Britain. This ground-breaking live television experiment does not go as planned, however.
