I have these two sentences stuck in my head these days:

A French minister: we need to prepare ourselves for a future when temperatures are 4°C higher.

A climate scientist: with a rise of 4°C above pre-industrial age, up to 90% of the world's population may die.

An update:

"I want to thank this community again for reaching out to help us with extraordinary generosity over the last couple of weeks. Substantial donations enabled Given to get specialist care for her heart condition and both of us to remain in Almerimar so that she could be monitored while undergoing an essential change of medication.

"My own health needed urgent attention, too. And your help allowed me to begin a process that, as it turns out, will need to continue in Italy (where a reciprocal healthcare agreement with Australia will provide me some access to further testing).
