I like books, history, tea and terminals. Mostly perplexed by everything. Annoyingly reasonable.
TeaYes, please.
You are X years old if you remember this.
The irresistible desire to correct someone on the internet who is wrong.

There are worse places to spend an evening.
Also, Scarborough's Open Air Theatre is a fantastic venue
From 1989, but that tower still looks cool.
Okay. Paddle-boarding is harder than it looks on YouTube.

Legs were a bit more wobbly than I expected, but I managed to stand up after a couple of attempts and didn't fall in. Had a paddle around for a while. Just me and the fishies. Calm, clear water. Good times. Can't get it to go straight, but figured it's shit paddling technique. One step at a time.

Parked up for a rest, then launched again. Managed to stand up first time! I'll be honest, I'm feeling pretty good about myself at this point. Still can't paddle straight though. Paddled around for a while longer then decided to call it quits while I'm ahead.

Parked up again (is there a nautical term for this?), picked up my board and realised that I'd forgotten to install the deep fin and take off my side fin protectors 🫢

That brought my ego firmly back into check.

Update on my home-made read-it-later app (aka Pocket / Instapaper clone).

Largely complete now. It can:

  • bypass paywalls
  • construct an ePub and send to Kindle
  • allow manual editing of the source
  • create a pdf suitable for reading on the Remarkable / Kindle Scribe
  • archive / fave articles
  • accept new articles via iOS shortcuts / bookmarklet

Had a lot of fun building it, and learned loads in the process.
