I realized the setting sun would line up almost perfectly with Runway 25 at SBA this evening. The winds favored it, and a Southwest flight from Oakland was due in just minutes before sunset.

So I waited in a nearby parking lot.

When the moment came, I sprang into action: drove up to the right spot along the fence, parked (illegally), set up a ladder and climbed it, jabbed the shutter… then back to the car in a flash and made my getaway.
