I'm planning on writing some more about tech on a new site soon: My first series is going to be called "To the forge!" and will be an exploration of different #git forges like #gitlab, @forgejo, or #gittea.
Only one small query: Where do I start? Does anyone know of any good resources for self-hosting a forge an what that entails? Thanks!
Honestly, feel this 👇🏻
"My dissatisfaction flying home from last week’s event is, ultimately, selfish. I miss having my mind blown. I miss being utterly surprised. I miss occasionally being disappointed by a product design that stretched quirky all the way to wacky" — @gruber (https://daringfireball.net/2024/09/the_things_they_carried)
People always dunk on #electron apps, and I mostly get it. But when they're good, man are they good. Take @obsidian , for example.
Because it's a well-build, smartly designed electron app, I can write most of my prose in #markdown and such which is great for 99% of my use case.
But then on days like today, I can use #css snippets and inline #code blocks to fancy up the layout of some persona writing I'm doing for a project, which looks awesome!
It may not be as user-facing or default like Notion two-column layouts are, but it doesn't *need* to be. I'm a smart user, and given the right tools I can make it work when I want it to. No need for cluttered menus or too much clicking around for just the right thing.

Just incase no one has linked you to this yet @imyke.
This channel is the definition of #overengineering (mostly) software problems, but I love it.
