Unity (former game engine company) has merged with an actual adware and malware distribution company. That's not an exaggeration. Fake Flash installers, was blacklisted by Microsoft's anti-malware tool, VirusTotal entires, that kind of thing.

@Jobias the only tragedy in all this is that they probably can't get Spock, Sybok, and Michael in a room for a rousing game of "who is Sarek's greatest disappointment"

@annachronism stars/worlds without number is balanced towards making combat a rare and dangerous undertaking, even at higher levels, and one of the game's three classes is oriented entirely around skill checks instead of combat. it's one of the few d20 systems i've played where being a pacifist isn't a game-breaking hamstring.

doctor who has an initiative system where talkers go first and fighters go last, mechanically forcing violence into an option of last resort to fit with doctor who's themes of empathy and discovery.

paranoia swings to the other side of the spectrum, making hair-trigger violence and disposable human lives into key elements of the setting.

delta green/unknown armies (which you're familiar with) requires a sanity roll after every violent event, even when it was the player committing the violent act.
