@hankgreen so...I just watched your comedy special, and you explained hair growth. I also recently watched the kurtzgesagt video on trees.

Now I can't get the idea out of my head that humans are trees, just we didn't make our hair grow in both directions.

@siracusa @marcoarment @caseyliss I just got the notification to upgrade to iOS 26, which I did.

One of the first things I noticed is that some of the icons are "blurry", in particular in the App Library screen.

Seems the YouTube and Roku items compared to the Spotify one. Is this expected due to the icon changes that Apple introduced or is this a unique issue to me?

@_Davidsmith anecdotally, my iPhone was just prompted to upgrade to iOS 26.1 with a pop up notification, which brought me into the settings area. Wondering if you are seeing any uptick in your data as of this week compared to your previous data.
@imyke @jsnell I was able to find more detail on battery life of each of the models in the EU energy label info that Apple released. See toots above this one as I included the info in this reply thread to atp (as they were talking about battery comparisons as well): https://mastodon.social/@illustro/115179917259379740

@siracusa as a note, I am aware this is unsolicited food recommendation.

That being said, coming from a fishing village, if you can get a whole fresh salmon, there is a really good recipe that I have cooked multiple times that I would encourage people to try. Paired with potatoes and a (European style) salad it can feed a whole family.

Good seafood prepared and cooked well is excellent.

@atpfm @caseyliss you can turn off the LED in the AP settings

Network > UniFi Devices > [Specific AP] > Settings > Manage (see image for example)

2/2

@atpfm @caseyliss yes I have ceiling mounted my AP.

A significant improvement to aesthetics (and spousal approval) when ceiling mounted is to turn off the LED.

With it off your eyes are much less drawn to it, and provided you have sufficiently tall ceilings you never notice it (for example my parents did not notice the pictured AP on the landing ceiling when they visited post-install).

@atpfm @siracusa note: it looks like these were patched in iOS in 18.4

@atpfm @siracusa have you heard about this Remote Code Execution vulnerability in AirPlay: https://www.oligo.security/blog/airborne

(I heard about it from the Low Level channel focused on security research)

@imyke Enjoy your paternity leave!

@jsnell some related follow up to the paternity questions at the end of upgrade. I use a newer set of smart radiator vales from a German company called tado which utilises matter so may be better from a HomeKit integration perspective.
