Pointed out by my curious cat, this unwelcome creature was sitting in my bathroom sink this morning, bold as brass. I thought they hid in dark places?!
Now I am on a semi panicked cleaning spree... #brownrecluse #spider #eek #shakyphoto

Some friends in England were commenting on the fact that the butterflies seem to be missing this summer, and it dawned on me that I haven't seen any either (in North America) despite having planted several flowering shrubs this year, including a purple nanho butterfly bush.
Plenty of bumbles and hummingbirds, to my delight, but zero butterflies. Here are a few bees & bugs on petals, some from our Botanical Garden, and the Morning Primrose from my own garden.

A masterpiece complication; I bet Prof Brian Cox would appreciate this!
