I’m interested in politics & the pandemic. Wearing a *high quality* mask is the most important thing to protect yourself after vaccination; don’t ditch masks!
A close family member had an accident, and now I have to worry about them catching covid in a trauma step-down unit where masks are *optional* for the healthcare workers. Imagine—no attempt to keep trauma patients safe from airborne pathogens, and that’s official CDC policy.

“Biggest pet peeve is when ppl ask when I’ll “feel safe” going to crowded indoor events w/ zero covid mitigations. My feelings are completely irrelevant. It’s not a matter of “feeling” safe it’s a matter of *being* safe. The virus doesn’t care how I or anyone else feels about it”

"Why is Trump avoiding accountability!?!?!?!"

Maybe because media outlets aren't investing in the resources and hard work to cover the trials that may lead to holding him accountable?

FTR, I complained about that coverage of Murdagh INSTEAD of the Proud Boys case--the case that ACTUALLY involves Donald Trump.

So @AmandaMarcotte should maybe ask why she covered this instead of covering the stuff that could play in role in holding Trump accountable. https://twitter.com/AmandaMarcotte/status/1632713988415922176

“No more excerpts, but why you should read this 2 minute article: I analyze how the Murdaugh trial cuts right to the crisis roiling our country, which is the impunity of privileged white men, many who get away with crimes (like Trump). https://t.co/6ZvBldomoP”

@RealJackHibbs all your posts about this storm are SO TONE DEAF. People in my community are starving, freezing, and dying! How about asking for help?

So when the same XBB.1.5 variant that tore thru a long term care facility in Cape Cod, infecting 19 staff & 74 residents (killing 5 of them) is dominant everywhere in the US, it's logical to conclude that this is a really f*cking bad time to be dropping mitigations in hospitals.

@johncar39171823 @BurnItD0wn @ModelAyshaMirza The people wearing masks and not spreading virus are the only ones doing anything to make it end, so yeah they do want it to end.

My friend @Rachelphoenix is in #Crestline, buried under nine feet of snow, behind a ten foot ice wall. Here's her post about what's going on, and her worries about other members of her community:

The fact that we honed in on learning loss shows just how few harms the early COVID response actually caused compared to how much good emergency pandemic social spending—PUA, stimulus checks, child tax credit, eviction and debt freeze, etc.—did.

Can’t have that again!
