Only late in the development cycle did NASA realize they could use giant cats to transport the shuttle instead of a 747
@daniel damn i wished they wouldnt have used stickers and blue pins on that model

(i have the same model sitting on top of my NAS)
@puniko @daniel Same here. Especially since the white bricks tend to yellow, making the stickers stand out even more.
@daniel @mahryekuh i deliberately didnt place the stickers on, except for the shiny inside of the cargo bay. its a big downgrade tbh, considering how well the saturn v was in that aspect
@puniko @daniel I wish I had your wisdom back in the day.
@daniel @mahryekuh at least it wasnt as bad as other models by lego
@daniel This looks like seconds before unintended take-off.
@daniel Momoooooo 😍
@daniel πŸ˜† And with Lego, we had less #spaceDebris.
@daniel positively lying under my chair and crying with laughter!
@daniel "The problem was she kept knocking it off the table."
@daniel Fascinating how the ceramic heat shield panels almost look like Lego bricks!
@daniel The Italians kept their supercats secret.
@daniel They saved de-orbit burn fuel by batting the shuttle out of orbit.
@daniel yes, but it was decided to use the 747s as they were found to be less aloof and more reliable for transporting, especially over long distances.. as the giant cats tended to get distracted with warm napping spots, catnip, food and occasional city wide pets and it was delaying arrivals and subsequent launches. it was also found during initial testing that sometimes when catnip would become involved, the giant cat would roll over and crush said shuttle, but that wasnt disclosed to the public, they would just rename subsequent shuttles with the same name to pretend there was an unbroken line of flights... its also possible that giant cat hairball might have played a part in several shuttle accidents over the years... some on television, some found before they reached that level of destruction.
@daniel
That's a cover-up story. But every true believer knows that in early tests the giant cats kept knocking the shuttles off of the edge of the Earth.
@daniel they lost terrible amounts of money as a result of this scheme until one of the missing shuttles was discovered under the refrigerator
@i_give_u_worms @daniel Don't forget the terrible problems with scheduling. They opened the hangar doors but the transport just stood there doing nothing.
@finestructure @daniel yes: there was a complete breakdown of performance management when transport was rated as a good kitty regardless of outcomes
