Thinking about what a good mixtape format would be today, assuming people mostly don't have actual tape decks.

One continuous audio file with all songs joined together?

Offline html page with an embedded audio player?

Other ideas? Should be independent of streaming services.

We all admire Amsterdam for having the vision to replace car infrastructure with bike infrastructure. We see the positive uplift in small business activity, and livability. 🙂👍🏿

Now imagine doing that in reverse. Replace relatively safely walkable and bikeable infrastructure with car infrastructure. In fact, put in freeways. Demolish entire thriving wealthy neighborhoods with freeways that don't serve the neighborhood.🙃

That's what we did to Black folk. That's how we destroyed Black wealth.

@mhoye capitalists realized how potentially dangerous an idea it was for them so they moved to colonize it and turn the primary publicly espoused form of it into, essentially, "what if your paycheck got direct deposited into your various landlords' accounts". so the specifics of how, why, and for whom are critical in any discourse about it.

So, this is exactly the same as saying that the whole idea that competition drives down prices - you know, the core tenet at the heart of the idea of that a free market is a legitimate idea that serves the public good - is false.

UBI is the compromise position.
