Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !

You know the drill by now. I don't like talking about Black history. Americans know Black history. I want to talk about white American history. In other words, racism, and the erasure of both positive achievements of, and injustices suffered by, non-white people. That's what people don't know.

Try this: Ask your white US friends what the statue of liberty celebrates.

Now ask your Black friends. Or French folk of any color.

Getting to be that time in the winter when I say, "Oh, above 10° F feels quite bearable," and wonder what the Midwest has done to me.

everything in this article is obvious if you've been following the trend of worker organizing in tech the past few years, but it's notable because it's literally the only piece of reporting I've seen so far that actually goes beyond credulously repeating CEOs' talking points to examine what's really going on

it's not about the economy, it's about reminding workers that they work at the pleasure of the bosses and putting fear back into the equation

Merchant: Big Tech is using layoffs to crush worker power

Wildly profitable tech companies are citing an as-yet notional recession to make deep workforce cuts. They may have another agenda.

You don't have to be racist to participate in systemic racism. US policing produces racist outcomes even from "not-racist" people. I'm going to explain (again):

* why I've probably been pulled over way more times than most people you know, even though most of the times I'm pulled over, I get no ticket (because I did nothing wrong)
* how I stopped getting pulled over so much (because I understand the system)
* And why lots of cops say that the average voter is more racist than the average cop

CALL TO ACTION ALERT: Most Undocumented Americans are banned from obtaining a Drivers License. This makes their lives even more difficult.

Nobody is “grooming” children to be gay or trans, but a lot of people are grooming boys to be mass shooters.
Automerge 2.0 | Automerge CRDT

Automerge 2.0 is here and ready for production. It’s our first supported release resulting from a ground-up rewrite. The result is a production-ready CRDT with huge improvements in performance and reliability. It's available in both JavaScript and Rust, and includes TypeScript types and C bindings for use in other ecosystems. Even better, Automerge 2.0 comes with improved documentation and, for the first time, support options for production users.

Next project will either be starting on another Stacked75 for the five-year old or learning how to solder surface mount components for an Atreus62. I have Quefrency PCBs already but want to get a custom laser cut case and plate, which will require enough uninterrupted time to figure out how I want to modify the vector files. #MechanicalKeyboards
I finally put on the rest of the keycaps to finish this keyboard for my soon-to-be eight-year old. It is a Stacked75 kit from CannonKeys, soldered with Kailh Box Whites and Durock v2 stabilizers. The deal was that he would receive the keyboard when he was able to touch type at 30 wpm. (He's currently only at 10-12 wpm.) I'm hoping seeing the complete keyboard will motivate him to keep at it. #MechanicalKeyboards

“Slack in development teams leaves room for sickness, for onboarding, for helping other teams. It leaves room for checking production to see whether the feature we released last week had any unexpected effects. It lets us do our best work. Resilience comes with healthier systems and healthier people.”
