I'm not that familiar with Mike Johnson, but a quick review of his positions convinces me he is just another anti-democracy zealot who wants to take away the rights of people who aren't straight, white, Christian males. Not a fan of his position on Ukraine, either. This is just fantastic! 🙄
The rate limiting incident in Twitter isn't really what pushed me over to use Mastodon more and more. Currently there is a hashtag on Twitter related to the French riots that's calling on the expulsion of all Muslim, African, and Arab immigrants from the entirety of Europe. The trending hashtag (at #2) is filled with images encouraging mass killings and lynchings of Arabs. There is no come back from this.

The red line is when Republicans ended the national assault weapons ban.

Once you understand white US history instead of Black history, you'll understand why the following interventions will do much more to improve US Black educational achievement than most of the nonsense we're trying today:

• Bail reform
• Fire racist teachers, including the Bill Cosbys
• Retain anti-racist Black, white, AAPI, Latinx teachers
• Get rid of school cops
• Provide all students free lunch. And breakfast. And afternoon snack.
• Transfer police budget to school budget. Bring back art.

Publicity campaigns urging "cross on the green" are not safety campaigns. An accruate slogan would be:
"Cross on the green, not in between, because a driver's convenience is more important than your life." 2/2

I just asked ChatGPT to write me a poem on the two-slit experiment in quantum mechanics in the style of Robert Burns. My work on this earth is done.

“ In one study, male bicyclists were shown to have proceeded straight at an intersection while the light was still red to get ahead of the traffic. Female bicyclists waited for the light to turn green. Turning truck drivers, proceeding on the same green, killed the law-abiding and careful female bicyclists.” https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2023/01/is-cycling-safe-in-many-cases-the-answer-is-no/ #WomenWantToBikeToo #bike4fun #bikesafety #BikeTooter
Is cycling safe? In many cases, the answer is no.

Elijah McCoy was born in 1844 in Ontario to formerly-enslaved parents from Kentucky. They saved enough to send him to Scotland to study mechanical #engineering. When he returned and couldn't get work in his field, he took a job as a train oilman and invented a method of automatic lubrication that eliminated the frequent stops trains had to make to oil up axles & bearings. Railroad companies asking for his product rather than copycat devices spawned the phrase "the real McCoy." #BlackHistoryMonth

The main thing that makes it hard to have nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people — it's density of cars. And the better you design your density of people and buildings, the fewer cars you need or want.

This is really important.
