Thinking of writing a song called ‘My Upstairs Neighbour Is Watching M*A*S*H’. It would sound like the theme tune from M*A*S*H as heard through the ceiling.

Hello, Mastodon! Sorry I’ve neglected you. I’ve been busy starting a #BookTube channel — A Genteel Black Hole. (Named after a Terry Pratchett quote.) Here’s one of my recent videos, chatting about the books I read in October, if you like that sort of thing. https://youtu.be/-571r6b58Cc

Pretty much my exact experience! I was already having a great time with them but somewhere around the 20th book it seemed to go up another level. Just absolutely glorious books. I’m still trying to pace myself but I’ve only got five left now… and I’ll be rereading them before long, I’m sure!
Middle-age spread? Oh you mean a waist of time?
Exceedingly excited to be making a start on Blackout by Connie Willis, the first of a two-part story that concludes her Oxford Time Travel series. Willis was one of my favourite new-to-me discoveries of 2022, and Doomsday Book (the first part of this series) was one of my biggest highlights of the year. Big thanks to m’bestie Rachel for giving me both parts of the finale for Christmas! 💜

Hello. My name is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. You used to laugh and call me names, and never let me join in any reindeer games. Prepare to die.

Lots of people will be reading / watching A Christmas Carol around this time of year. One of the central messages of the story is that greed, selfishness, and unrestrained capitalism kills disabled people. Scrooge’s cruelty leads directly to the death of Tiny Tim, who can only be saved when Scrooge changes his ways. Something something don’t vote Tory, support striking workers, take necessary precautions to prevent the continuing spread of covid, etc etc. You get it, right?
