I have a fluorescent tattoo of an agouti on my hand to let me quickly test if certain materials let UV light through :)

I gave it to myself with tattoo silicone that people use for lizards, so can't recommend others actually do this.

Mothpacker! Created a new visualizer for #Mothbox data I'm excited about!

I smashed some background subtraction AI with a bin packing algorithm and fun pastel backgrounds inspired by @dradriansmith and @specialnothing

The results are fun, and each image represents a slightly different sorting algorithm.

The Mothbox is our latest #openscience #opensource #hardware tool for studying insect biodiversity! It's a low-cost #diy device you can build with off-the-shelf parts and simple documentation. Thanks to an incredible grant we won from @wildlabsnet we have been able to pour our heart into this #tech4wildlife project since march and refine it to be a really robust, jungle-proof and easy to use device!

Full documentation to build one yourself here:

This genius solved the puzzle within 10 minutes!
Thr Ñexus kinda works
So glad i finally invested in some nice baking racks for the lab! Bit awkward to get out to the jungle, but wonderful to have to fight horizontal surface disease!
Anyway means i might remember to post stuff over here a bit. Here's our protest signs turning into science equipment!
If you have done science in Panama, please share and help!
AdoptaBosque is collecting donations to help give aid to the activists and protestors working to stop this atrocity.

Many have asked how they can support the activists working in panama to fight the illegal mine being forced upon the people and nature of panama by the Canadian mining company First Quantum and a handful of corrupt politicians. It's an open pit mine that will obliterate rainforest 3 times the size of Manhattan. 80% of panamanians are firmly against this mine as none of the money or resources will go towards the people and it will destroy the true value of panama, its natural biodiversity.
1) get your Robot: find an AI image generator (we used Dall-E 3 which you can use for free on Bing Image creator right now if you login)
2) ask people to come up with a "mutant" concept. for example "sloth" + "tarantula"
3) create a prompt using those concepts. Remember the more specific and concrete the image style, the better results you will typically get. It will also let you focus on more specifics of how the mutant-mashup is expressed.
