You don’t have to leave your house. You don’t have to talk to strangers. Just pick up your phone and text (or call) five of your friends tonight. Make sure they have a plan to vote on (or before, if your state has early voting) Election Day, and ask if they have any questions or need a ride.
You know your friends! Which of them may need kids watched for a bit so they can go vote, or who doesn’t have a car right now? What can you do to help?
Let’s talk for a minute about relational organizing. Studies have found 1) that talking to a friend about having a voting plan increases the likelihood of people voting and 2) that people that trust you are more likely to listen to you than to someone who cold calls or knocks on their door. Your people know and trust you.
Elections are won and lost on margins - turnout is one of the largest factors in which direction a race shifts. And you would be shocked how many of your friends don’t vote.
