@tomas We'll see, I'm hoping for multiple independent, billionaire-proof, dev-friendly platforms for building social networks. Bluesky's success only strengthens Mastodon, and vice versa. Competition is good, there is plenty of room for both to prosper.

How Swift's server support powers Things Cloud

You might be familiar with Things, a delightful personal task manager that has won two Apple Design Awards and is available across Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. At Cultured Code, the team behind Things, we care about a great user experience across every aspect of the product. This extends to our server back end, and after a rewrite our Things Cloud service has transitioned entirely to Swift. Over the past year in production, Swift has consistently proven to be reliable, performant, and remarkably well-suited for our server-side need.

@cthielen That was my theory in 2016.

It doesn't compute for me in 2024. Seems more likely people knew him well and liked it.

@lucas Right, with OpenAPI you can get typesafe access to a remote service with very little work. Spec-driven development is the way
@gallaugher If you have any questions, ping me here, or engage with us on the Swift forums or the GitHub repo πŸ™‚ We've tried hard to make our docs, examples, and tutorials high quality, but feedback is always welcome!
