It's not just that the referendum was defeated but how badly. Those numbers ... this was NEVER going to happen.

I genuinely thought Australia was better than this. I had resigned myself to accepting that the referendum was unlikely to succeed.

The final result I just can't digest at the moment. SIXTY percent of people said no. SIXTY.

I underestimated how racist and/or selifsh Australians are. We've got a LOT of work to do.
