Europe’s digital rights are on the chopping block.

We - 127 CSOs & trade unions - are sounding the alarm over the European Commission’s forthcoming #DigitalOmnibus proposals.

Behind “simplification” lies a deregulation agenda that threatens the EU's digital framework - GDPR, ePrivacy, AI Act, DSA & DMA - the very laws that keep our data safe, hold govts & corporations accountable, prevent AI from determining our life chances, & protect us from mass surveillance.

"Our ancestors allowed their storage and processing architec tures to proliferate uncontrollably, and they tended to throw away old technologies instead of virtualizing them. For reasons of commercial advantage, some of their largest entities deliberately created incompatible information formats and locked up huge quantities of useful material in them, so that when new architectures replaced old, the data became inaccessible."

[6/n] I'm stepping away for now to make dinner, but I'm going to revisit this when some "ads" have accumulated on me to see if I can understand why I'm getting those ads or what the topics are. As per my understanding so far, Google considers any topic is okay to profile me based on the lack of clarity and default by on toggles just because I wanted to watch a video on an official governmental website. Without a Google account you don't see any information at all.
