@dontreportme @TCMuffin @NatureMC @Dianora thanks for the clarification.

This comment is a good example of smug self-righteous finger-wagging. You literally called me “ignorant”. People who are understandably skeptical of multinational corporations that seek not to cure us but to keep us sick are in no way “anti-vaxxers”. Keep doing battle with intellectually honest people for multinational corporations (like Monsanto now Bayer Chemical) that literally INSPIRED THE TERM #ASTROTURFING:

@SohanDsouza I’ve seen a lot more pro-Ukraine #astroturfing on Lemmy and Mastodon.

It’s really easy to spot by questioning whether those people are also pro-Palestine. Obviously anyone concerned for the safety of Ukrainian citizens should be doubley concerned about the safety of the Palestinians….but conveniently they aren’t because what they’re ACTUALLY doing is trying to drum up public support for sending billions of tax dollars to the military industrial complex money fire pit.

@TCMuffin @NatureMC @Dianora People that publicly shame others for questioning the efficacy of *commercial products that for-profit companies use tax money to research* then subsequently inject directly into the veins of the populace are ALSO dangerous fools.
#Astroturfing the notion that publicly funded pharmaceutical companies should be beyond reproach is an abhorrent and widespread practice that needs to end.
There’s a HUGE GULF between anti-vaxxer and educated skeptic/conscientious consumer.
#ElonMusk tried to buy #twitter because he became the richest person in the world through #astroturfing on #Reddit and twitter and wanted to control the entire supply chain for his #selfhypingmoneytrain.
And I should add- I think this is early evidence that there is no technological reason alone that hashtag based social movement actions can’t emerge and find their own dynamics on here. If things like #BlackLivesMatter don’t happen on Mastodon it is because we have failed to create a culture that lifts it up here and welcomes it, rather than some sociotechnical reason.

Just another friendly PSA to #twittermigration folks who intend to stay for keeps and "leave" the birdsite:

1. switch account email to anything but your main inbox, uninstall app etc. disable all notification.

2. Download your data. There may be good memories and memes in there.

3. Deactivate, reactivate your account or use an online tool to delete your tweets.

4. Populate your profile with your Masto info.

5. Scramble your password and walk away.

Place a waypoint rather than vanish.
