@hadrian server logs are collected primarily for debugging. Since we are an E2EE storage we can’t actually look at the data to debug customer issues and server logs are often the only help we can get. This is a transition phase though, and it is our plan to reduce the need to rely on these as we go along.
The IPs etc are collected to detect and prevent abuse. Again, we plan to remove these over time, but right now we need them to prevent abuse.
