A little tranquility earlier this week. Before the wind.

I was reading a piece this morning from Australia saying they have many gas stations empty and closed because with the Hormuz thing scaring the hell out of everyone, people are hoarding gas and diesel like crazy, even people that don't really need that much. They are filling up every jerry can, container and bottle they can find in their garage to stockpile it. In a country like Australia, I have to wonder how much of a serious fire hazard doing that is.

And in doing so, shutting down gas stations to those that really need it, such as truckers moving food, farmers trying to use their farm vehicles, and others that depend on it for keeping the country running. I suppose it's happening here in Canada, too but I haven't seen any closures or anything even close to that.

Once again, it's worth noting that prepping and stocking up on essentials only makes sense when it is done thoughtfully and with common sense. Don't stock up on something that will go bad before you can use it while others go without that same thing. It's like filling your fridge with salad while your neighbours have nothing but gruel. Ridiculous.

Emptying and clearing out store shelves in the middle of a crisis just hurts everyone and doesn't help you. Slowly, over time, increasing your stockpile of shelf stable goods, that you actually use and rotate responsibly, to increase your self sufficiency for 3 or 6 months or even up to a year, so that during that crisis you are not a drain on the services that help people that truly cannot prep for one reason or another. It means you are also in a position to help others during that crisis as stronger communities are much more resilient to disaster. The most dangerous thing in a community is desperation of a few. Doing it right is the only solution.

Went to the woods for a picnic yesterday ♥️ really enjoyed it.

Laundry actually has three stages:

1. Clean
2. Dirty
3. The Chair

Just a neutral territory where clothes go to think about what they've done.

There’s a fog over the lake today. I’d say there’s a 50/50 chance we end up in a Stephen King novel. #GreatLakes
