@shabbychef Chicago or remote, prefer remote. Pretty open about options but I'm not terribly familiar with, say, genomic analysis or high performance computer vision which I assume autonomous driving involves. Finance okay but I'm probably more built for fraud detection, AML stuff than, say, stock trading. Probably either research or engineering but lean more eng just based on what people are researching these days.
I'm not particularly enthusiastic about gen AI but with the right use cases, or in something where I'm more concerned with measuring performance and optimizing than doing the plumbing, something where statistical/ML knowledge has a footing, I'm all in.
My research was in clustering and classification, and in graduate school I worked in the department's statistical consulting office so I have broad experience in traditional statistics as well. Lately I've been doing NLP in a network management/testing/troubleshooting context with some GenAI work.
I had this inspirobot ready in case I didn't get laid off. Alas. #inspirobot
looking at lapack routines, tag yourself, i'm dpotrf
all right #rstats if you need a statistician/data scientist/ML guy, today was my last day, so hit me up.

Google and Microsoft recently admitted their emissions are soaring as they build out data centers to power the AI boom.

But new analysis from The Guardian suggests the data center emissions of Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Apple are 662% higher than the companies reporting.

Data center emissions probably 662% higher than big tech claims. Can it keep up the ruse?

Emissions from in-house data centers of Google, Microsoft, Meta and Apple may be 7.62 times higher than official figures

Anyway, if anybody needs a data scientist or statistician...
The way things are shuffling from the top in AI strategy doesn't inspire confidence, anybody need a statistical computing wallah?

This is scary. Prosecuting librarians for having books on the shelves? What world do I live in?

And it's happening here in Michigan.
