@roldyclark @Lyle meals tax as well
@Lyle the only solution leaders have to keep col down is to keep wages low and meter benefits to those on poverty wages. Would like to see a solution that didn’t force more people into welfare programs. Financial agency is more ethical than welfare imo.

@Lyle would like to see the state minimum wage increased to like ~$25 with COL updates baked in.

@waldoj the thing that saps my confidence is when they updated the Construction Updates page they changed virtually all remaining unconnected areas to Winter 2025-26.

Firefly Fiber Broadband
@waldoj firefly just updated their update page and now we’re pushed to Winter 2026. I feel like Tantalus.

Mobile Safari is doing this thing where if you scroll a website it will decide you don’t want to scroll the website your scrolling but that you want to open another website. Took me a while to catch this text at the bottom.

In typical Apple fashion this weird niche feature is automatically turned on.

How can this be turned off?!

One of two bonded DSL lines is totally dead. But Brightspeed has been in a nearly constant state of “area outage” for 5 months. “Area outage” clears any scheduled repair appointments and prevents making them.

So even though I’ve been able to set up a new repair appointment every 2-3 weeks when the “area outages” are cleared, so far a new “area outage” cancels the appontments before they occur.

This is beginning to feel like a feature.

Is there any interest in building a meshtastic mesh in cville/albemarle?

My least favorite change in iOS26 is the Personal Hotspot. Its existence is now conditioned on there being a cellular data connection to share.

If the connection drops the hotspot tether drops and the app greys out. So you can’t just tether a device and use the data as it’s available in areas without constant connection - every drop out causes the Hotspot app to go away. Every return of data requires a fresh tether.
