@itsfoss I wish reflection Llama is trully open source. Right now it's just a manipulation. It's not open and never will be due to the costs and nature of the company standing behind it.

@itsfoss AI will make Linux irrelevant pretty soon with bare-metal hardware support for AI infrastructure hosted remotely, or in some kind of a hybrid ecosystem. Add to this natural interfaces based on voice, sight, touch and human-like interaction in real time and that's it. It's inevitable and it's already happening. People will love it, for sure. And will forget about openness and independence in software creation, most people do not care about it and never cared.
@nixCraft I remember everything! My "year of the Linux desktop" was in 1997 when I first succeeded to install Fvwm2 and got the eyes watching me 😀. Then I switched to WindowMaker and then came Xfce and tha mouse was cool.
@nixCraft I'm learning new languages for fun (currently Spanish and Rust). No AI can take it away from me :-). And I'm wondering how well all these GPU farms are secured from electromagnetic impulse... Just a thought, not that I wish something bad should happen and impact the future of AI. This field is very promissing. But all these people who lost their jobs due to this 2nd industrial revolution, they still probably have quite a lot of resources and possibilities.

Mój pierwszy RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) z Mistralem 7B na Google Colab. Nie ma wielkich wymagań i nawet się na tego Lenina nie obraził 😉
O Czacie GPT słyszał już prawie każdy, a o Mistralu i Mixtralu, czyli MoE (Mixture of Experts) pewnie nadal nie tak wielu. Jest lepszy od GPT, Open Source i można go odpalić lokalnie, albo na serwerach Google Colab ;-) (dla Mixtral 8x7B, NV Tesla T4 w darmowej wersji Colab, to trochę za mało, 7B działa super).
Ocenzurowany przez OpenAI model nie odpowie na każde pytanie, a Dolphin nie dość że lepszy, to można go "douczyć".
Planowałem dokształcić go dziełami Lenina, ale to byłoby okrutne...
@nixCraft True. I had R61 and it was disappointing to say the least. I reanimated it twice, second time I had to transplant base of the casing together with inner mold which was holding the hinges of the screen. Quality-wise very cheap and weak. Nowadays I really like to use very old laptops, eg. Dell EliteBook. Very low specs for today's standards (compilation of Cosmic DE took me 2.5h) but works perfect despite of being 13 years old 😃.
