An unexpected thing happened: somehow I received a special award at the Pégases (french game industry awards), partly recognizing the continued work on Dear ImGui. Thank you🙏 https://academiejeuvideo.org

This is really good.

Also, I’m a pretty big Cameron fan, and I didn’t know how much he seems to love Carpenter’s “Halloween”.

The Social Network UHD bonus disc has a PS3_UPDAT.PUP on it. Released this year, but I'm guessing the bonus disc is just a reprint from the original blu ray release in 2011.

I've been wanting to start a blog for a while, and finally decided to bite the bullet.

The first article of hopefully many more to come is about, you guessed it, profiling & optimization.

Boosts appreciated!

Optimizing libdwarf .eh_frame enumeration | Ritesh Oedayrajsingh Varma

For the Linux version of Superluminal we rely on unwind information stored in the .eh_frame section in a binary to perform stack unwinding. We’ll go over optimizations we made to libdwarf that greatly improve the performance of retrieving this information.

Pretty interesting how the old knowledge was that “you never run oem windows. Buy a computer, wipe it and install from scratch”; because it was always full of shovely shitware and wasted the resources you just spent good money on. And now, Microsoft destroyed a decade of solid improvement and good will build up by cutting out the oem middleman and just making that shitware a part of windows itself.

The whole UI in iOS 26 is completely redone, but you still can’t have both and Archive and Delete button on the screen at the same time when reading an email, and there is more screen real estate than ever for it.

Nothing ever gets fundamentally better for core use cases in Apple software. Just more frippery and feature creep of stuff I don’t want.

Looking forward to the day I send all my Apple stuff to eWaste. Absolute clown show.

A heads up about RCS messaging on iOS: if you get frustrated with RCS messaging simply not working sometimes, and flip it off in settings, beware. You will simply silently stop receiving RCS messages until you turn it back on. At that point it will dump all the messages you missed without any timestamps, and completely out of order in every conversation in Messages.app. 👍
