@[email protected] is it intentional that iOS Firefox will no longer open external links in a private tab?

I don’t know if it’s an option that’s been removed, or a behavior (remember which set of tabs was last used) that has changed. But it seems like it undercuts a lot of the privacy (less tracking) argument for Firefox.

I know this was different at some point due to the unreasonable number of private tabs I had open 😅

So much of the #AIhype I'm seeing these days is 2nd-hand hype, where someone has identified a legitimate need and then fallen for the technochauvanist line that "genAI" (synthetic media extruding machines) will meet that need.

In some ways it's harder to push back on, because the people peddling this hype are speaking from that place of need.

But patching holes in lack of resources for education, medical care, journalism, etc with "genAI" is like treating morning sickness with thalidomide.

Paraphrasing Goodhart’s law-“When metric becomes a target, the metric becomes useless”.

That 3 min resolution data point he has subjectively interpreted as “AI chatbot success, instead of customer abandonment in frustration (Kano model, anyone?) & sacked all the human support staff”. He will only realize too late that he has no more paying customers as they left to competitor that has paid human support staff (unintended consequence & AI metrics won’t inform him).

There should be a reverse Indiana Jones film where a South American tribe sneaks into the Vatican, steals some relics, and gets away on a boat while a bunch of men in golden robes shake their fists and shout their strange language.
I think we really missed an opportunity a couple of years ago when we didn't call NFTs “grift certificates”.
