Here's to all the open source developers who put hours and hours of their lives into a project they built, put it out into the world, and now it sits with approximately zero users.

Thank you for putting labor into the world to try and help others, even if it's never been recognized.

Brag about your project here if you'd like!

Edit: if you saw this earlier, come back and check out all the cool projects people have shown off since!

YouTube used an AI smoothing filter that made the videos look like they were AI generated, and didn’t tell Beato, Shull, or their viewers that they were doing it. They only admitted to it after the two made videos proving it happened, later claiming it was only a 'limited test'.”

Flock Safety has built a system where ICE can access local police data via informal backchannels and abortion seekers can be tracked under the guise of “missing persons.” And they’re continuing to expand it. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/06/flock-safetys-feature-updates-cannot-make-automated-license-plate-readers-safe
Flock Safety’s Feature Updates Cannot Make Automated License Plate Readers Safe

Two recent statements from the surveillance company reveal a troubling pattern: when confronted by evidence of widespread abuse, Flock Safety has blamed users, downplayed harms, and doubled down on the very systems that enabled the violations in the first place.
