I love how they fused Kanji and Romaji here:
美 is a glyph which means "beauty", mostly spelled "bi". For example used in 美容院/Biyouin, beauty salon.

The super market around the corner here uses "美stro bread" for "bistro bread" to hint how beautiful it is.

TIL: the reason that Tamagoyaki (Japanese omuelette) is in Tokyo/Kantou area sweeter than in Japans west areas: In the past, sugar was expensive and in Eido (nowadays Tokyo) as wealthy city it was used extensively to show off.

This influences the taste in the regions even now.

Did you know that a dark IDE theme can improve code quality because bugs are attracted to light?
On the right there's an eel and on the left another small one. Actually they seems like う, the first letter of eel in Japanese.
Japanese people eat eels often in summer to gain energy to survive the hot weather.

So many folks using the weather to climb Mnt. Tounodake - the summit was quite full.
Everybody using their chance before it's getting hotter.

The Nintendo #switch2 is sold in Germany since yesterday, for 469.99€.
With inflation/prices drifting off in Japan since years, I was curious on the price here.
Amazon-Japan is greeting with a warning that the Switch2 sold here is usable only with Japanese language setting, and just in Japan.. and it's sold for ¥49,980 (303€).

That's 65% of the price in Germany.. quite a difference!
We are still in the world of DVD region codes..

My income here is ~82% of someone doing the same work in .de .

"With the end of Prohibition and the outbreak of World War II, the still dry US Navy was provided with ice cream on almost every ship."
"Ice cream was important for morale. In 1942, the U.S.S. Lexington was slowly sinking from a Japanese torpedo attack, before the crew abandoned ship, they broke into the freezer and ate all the ice cream."

Setting priorities is so important :)

How Ice Cream Replaced Booze in the US Navy

General Order 99 One hundred and eleven years ago on July 1, 1914, Secretary of the US Navy Josephus Daniels issued General Order 99, banning “the use or introduction for drinking purposes of alcoholic liquors on board any naval vessel, … Continue reading →

I spotted this at my daily commute - going by bike, it's easy to get off and investigate..
Looks like a huge, "breathing" flower, a bit like from an Alien movie. Also has an spect of making one feel a bit uneasy/uncomfortable, in Japanese I would say "違和感".

It's part of the "The vanishing point of the Ant" exhibition.

Warum heißt es eigentlich Neoliberalismus und nicht Kapitalverbrechen?
I want this to fill paperwork lol.
