We need to decarbonise far more urgently and from a Scottish perspective, this is our opportunity because we have won every energy jackpot over the last three centuries. We had wood in abundance, then coal, then hydro, then oil and gas, then wind, solar, geothermal, tidal, you name it, we have it in abundance. So why has your energy bill just gone up?

The UK energy market simply is not fit for purpose.

Dependency on oil is ludicrous with Scotland's green jackpot

An independent Scotland simply won’t run our energy market like this.

this is what actual nuance about AI looks like - Dorian Taylor @doriantaylor on how LLM coding is vaguely possible, but of limited usefulness for real work

Google search keeps getting worse. Such a shame - I vividly remember seeing Google search for the first time - it was such an exciting development then. Now, it's kinda embarrassing how low it is sinking.. https://daringfireball.net/linked/2026/03/20/google-search-is-now-using-ai-to-rewrite-headlines

I'm not anti the general field of Artificial Intelligence, it's an extremely interesting subject. I am deeply skeptical of the LLM/GPT products that are being deceptively sold to people as "AI solutions" or claiming to be the science fiction of Artificial General Intelligence. The cult-like following developing around them is even more disturbing, it is like something from Dune or W40K.

Please learn how these things actually work, even on a basic level, before making such wild claims.

read this somewhere:

"the money spent going to war for oil could have been spent eliminating the need for oil."

For nearly 30 years, journalists have relied on the Internet Archive to see how stories were originally published, before edits, removals, or changes. We need to safeguard that. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/03/blocking-internet-archive-wont-stop-ai-it-will-erase-webs-historical-record
Blocking the Internet Archive Won’t Stop AI, But It Will Erase the Web’s Historical Record

Imagine a newspaper publisher announcing it will no longer allow libraries to keep copies of its paper. That’s effectively what’s begun happening online in the last few months. The Internet Archive—the world’s largest digital library—has preserved newspapers since it went online in the mid-1990s....

Surprise surprise, we've done it again. We've demonstrated an ability to compromise significantly sensitive networks, including governments, militaries, space agencies, cyber security companies, supply chains, software development systems and environments, and more. “Ugh, won’t they just stick to creating poor-quality memes?” we hear you moan. Maybe we should, maybe

This is being done rapidly by people with questionable justifications and being merged with no youth and few marginalized people involved.
