Robot fight facilitator at #nhrl, game designer (mostly #boardgames) rebooting, #ferret lover, obsessive of obscure sports history, noisy music aficionado.

Still not a negotiable Final Fantasy currency.

Tonight, I am too tired to sleep.
https://www.printplaygames.com/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon is going out of business. I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned on any of the board game sites we follow. That was here we got all of our prototypes printed and losing them is a huge loss for board game creators. #BoardGames #TabletopGames #GamePrototyping #PrintAndPlay

But there are so many other rules I’m getting rid of that I think this is a good direction to continue in. Ideally, I want a game that is fully zero-prep, and each mission is self-contained enough that the GM doesn’t have to read it before playing.

Will it work? We’ll see!

I also wanted to see how mutant powers worked above-the-table (players know, characters don’t), while keeping secret societies secret. I think they both need to be secret. That seems to be a ton of the fun.
For this test, I tried splitting GM duties across players, but it’s clear I need one GM, and everyone else has mostly-equal agency as players.
My original vision for the game was a GM-less story game, but I can tell you now from experience that this does not work in the Paranoia setting. It needs a GM to keep things moving.
Wrapped my first playtest of one of my games at UnPub! This was playtest #3 of my Paranoia redesign, but first with a ton of changes introducing more structure for the players to work off.
I hope I get a chance to test other people’s games too! Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Think Outpost, but with a serious negative feedback loop, so that snowballing early brings all sorts of extra challenges. I’m really excited to see it in action.
Then Sunday at 12:30, I’ll be running Light Years, which is my public placeholder name for Gilpost. I haven’t tested this since last November, but I’m trying out a huge change.
