tired: eat the marshmallow
wired: wait, and get two marshmallows
inspired: donate your worldly belongings to the marshmallow research institute so that in the distant future all the matter in the galaxy will be turned into 10^53 marshmallows
Starting on some new smaller pieces and boy do I love these early stages of a #painting
@hans do you see this?

Seasonal reminder: Alcohol is a completely legal drug that destroys lives, relationships and families. Don't make it hard for people who are trying to stay sober to enjoy festivities and functions.

*whispers* most people don't care about decentralization and governance models, they just want someplace to hang out that's not a hassle.

The Dutch government spends billions subsidizing fossil fuels, which is unacceptable in a climate emergency.

We stand in solidarity with @[email protected], whose demands are more aligned with the science than the actions of the Dutch government. #StopFossieleSubsidies

I do like it here on Mastodon, but the huge influx of people from Twitter means there are far fewer image descriptions than from even a couple of weeks ago. Iโ€™d love to tell every one of them about this, but quite frankly there are so many I donโ€™t have the patience. Iโ€™d dearly love it if apps could block posts unless an image description was added to every photo, but I suppose thatโ€™s too much to hope for. Iโ€™m feeling really excluded from so many conversations. Itโ€™s getting as bad as Twitter.
This is really quite fascinating. There is exactly one ISP that is blocking mail from the mail server I run, which is used to deliver mail for infosec.exchange - t-online.de. It annoys me to no end that I see people try to subscribe to infosec.exchange and the confirmation emails are rejected. So, I contacted their postmaster, and to their credit, they got back to me very quickly, but they are basically saying "yeah, you need to use one of the big mail providers if you want to send mail to t-online subscribers".... Ok then. My apologies to any t-online subscribers (who probably can't see this anyhow), but you'll apparently need to use a different email account to register.

In response to criticism of the Fediverse I've read today, and to some very uninformed comments I've read on Twitter from Musk supporters about firing most of Twitter's employees, I want to talk about what I know about the technical side of running a social service.

The short answer is: it ain't easy and it ain't cheap.
