Flipper 1.4.0 just dropped. Time-based expressions (release this feature on April 1st), feature dependencies (flag A requires flag B), and one-click or one-command migration to Cloud.

Flipper 1.4.0

Dearest feature flagger, I come today bearing a big one. 1.4.0 is here and it's got some real goodies. Let's get into it. Time-Based Expressions Let's lead with the fire on this one. You can now schedule features to turn on or off at specific times using expressions.

Been more heads down than I can ever remember, but now we can start peeling back the covers. Just used @flipper to enable Fireside customers to preview an overhauled interface.

And the best part is that thanks to Flipper they can switch back to the old one if they don't like it. We can gather feedback and improve it without affecting anybody who isn't ready to switch.

And it paves the way for so many more Fireside upgrades.

Super search, expressions and tag picker. Now navigating is a breeze, releasing is more powerful and organizing is more simple.

Yes, I want my tax dollars feeding every kid breakfast and lunch at school in my state.

And I don’t even have kids. But I understand how much this benefits them and all of us.

We just had our first in-person meetup for Fireside, and today marks one year of the https://verygoodsoftware.company.

First year ended up being mostly infrastructure and performance, but now we're shifting heavily towards more significant directly-customer-facing improvements.

With SaaS, it's all about that slow-and-steady tiny bits of daily progress. There's always so much more to do, but looking back is great at helping see how much progress your team has made even though it never feels like enough.

We're thrilled to finally reveal our complete lineup of speakers, covering everything from #Ruby (ofc), to mentorship and team dynamics, to... Pokemon?!

As we approach October, we'll be showcasing each speaker, but you can view the entire list now at: https://rockymtnruby.dev/sessions/

Couldn’t agree more. I would even say not to bother with polyfills except for research/exploration.

If a browser feature isn’t widely supported, ignore it or use progressive enhancement.

After acquiring Fireside, we've been heads down on performance, operations, and infrastructure. Very little of it has been directly customer-facing thus far, and that's been incredibly draining.

There's still plenty more of that type of work for us to do, but the last couple of weeks has felt like a tipping point where we're primed to start aggressively chipping away at meaningful customer-facing enhancements.

Feeling much better and fired up to get them out.
