You'll find a mix of tech, politics, and shitposts on this account. Politically, I'd consider myself a center-left #SocialDemocrat. Philosophically, I'm a #naturalist (as in anti-supernatural, not in terms of medicine), #atheist, and #SecularBuddhist, in that order.

I'll almost exclusively post in English, but I can read Spanish and sometimes other Romance languages. Boosts or links in those are possible.

#Queer, #genderfluid, #nonbinary, and #pan, in a happy monoamorous relationship with a wonderful queer partner.

Ugh, I just don't feel like I'm good in this career anymore.

I'm making mistakes I wouldn't have made 2+ years ago because the amount of information to keep straight keeps increasing and my cognitive ability keeps decreasing with age. And I'm just so sick of tech. In every other area of my life, I bounce around among hobbies, etc. and never spend a ton of time indefinitely on any one thing. I can't get away from #IT if I want a roof over my head, but I've always hated committing to any one discipline or activity. I've never reached this stage with anything else in my life because I've always had the option of taking a long break from it.

I don't really have a realistic solution. I just gotta keep showing up and try to not overtly show the #burnout and hope this nerfed version of me is still good enough to hold on.

DHS Tells Police That Common Protest Activities Are ‘Violent Tactics’

DHS is urging law enforcement to treat even skateboarding and livestreaming as signs of violent intent during a protest, turning everyday behavior into a pretext for police action.

Yeah, I know it’s LinkedIn—sorry.

tl;dr Is that the high tech layoffs in the past few years have been largely driven by changes to the US tax code. These jobs may never be coming back. Prepare for an extended period of unemployment uncertainty.

Tax and Consequences

Every day brings news of more layoffs in the tech sector. Every day I see good people in my timeline struggling to find a new job, struggling to keep a roof over their head and food on the table, struggling with their mental health and sense of self worth.

I spend a lot of time thinking about this leak from the Clinton campaign email breach.

Something I'm learning in my adventures in Linux is that it's vital to have a second, working computer with you in order to search for ways to fix the thing you've just massively broken.
