I'm only ever in the mood for shooters for a tiny sliver of time, and then go for months (or years) playing all my regular favorite #gaming genres before I feel like playing a fps again.

As such, #Bioshock and its sequels are still lingering on my backlog (Infinite is the one which initially caught my attention).

It helps to read an article like this where the love shines through - gives me some calibration for what to expect, and helps bump up the priority on my backlog.

Rather than the same old boring internet pranks, I thought I'd build something more fun this April Fools.

Think you know CSS? Real property or made-up nonsense? 20 rounds. No mercy.

Ooh! I just learned that Space Haven - https://www.gog.com/en/game/space_haven - is going to have its 1.0 release on May 13! I got this game years ago, and have been heroically not playing it since to wait for the full release. Really looking forward to it.

I've been trying to write some initial impressions about Heart of the Machine, but quite a few hours in, I'm still flailing about wildly, without any real idea of what playing the game will be like.

It looks like the tutorial for the game consists of a prologue and two chapters (out of six?) - I'm currently 80% of the way through chapter 1. The scope of what I'm doing in the game has increased several times. I'm finally seeing some hints where the way I position specific buildings will have meaningful effects, but half of the icons for units to build are still locked. There've been hints about timelines, suggesting a roguelite restart to come, so I don't worry too much about that, but my natural tendency to go slow and savour early parts of a game is definitely not meshing well here. (Or maybe it is, and a fuller understanding of what I'm doing will end up being very beneficial.)

I named my AI GlaDOS, but then shied away from most theft and murder.

Luckily it all turned out okay, as she's now taking care of humans in such a way that she's thinking of them as livestock.

Locking in the status quo with the US-originated duopoly forever more. >.<

I wonder how many other EU-countries are making the same mistake, since they're all semi-independently working on the same implementations?

I've been willing to send a few bucks to Tarn Adams for a while now.

The graphical version of Dwarf Fortress that got released 3 years ago seemed like a good occasion to do just that, but being a stubborn asshole, I still refused to use steam.

So go and vote for it to finally get on GOG so I can shut up and spend my money:

So much this. I loved my first experience of Rimworld, right up till I didn't, and that was all due to its raids. Dealing with small raids was okay, but the sheer drudgery of cleaning up after I massacred a 50-person bow-and-arrow raid, only to then get another 25-person raid (but this time with machine guns and whatnot) before I'd even started cleaning up the blood...
