Hey real talk, if your rental has been damaged and you ask for a rent abatement, there is a non-zero chance the property manager will simply serve you 7 days notice. This is, of course, illegal unless the building is officially considered unliveable, but they may do it anyway. You gonna go cry to the tribunal? And be unable to secure your next tenancy? Go fuck yourself.

Ah, I see. Kaipara - despite facing flooding during Gabrielle that has damaged the alternate route into the region - doesn't have a mayoral fund (possibly because their mayor is more worried about a karakia than his constituents...) and neither does Whangārei. Far North does, but it's not listed on the Civil Defense page.
