This is kinda insane.
On a Mac, typing "CM2 = " (doing some cell references), it changes it to:
"CM2 =0,155 in²".

Apparently no way to disable this.

No wonder "Some 27 human genes have been renamed, all because Microsoft Excel kept misreading their symbols as dates". Surely Apple products have introduced bad data somewhere as well.
